Her father, John Stephens, played as a running back for the New England Patriots in the NFL, and her mother, Sybil, was the first African-American woman to be named a first-team All-American swimmer in Division I history.
In 1994, Sybil left John after multiple arrests. Sloane was just one at the time.
After her parent’s separation, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Sheldon Farrell.
