Tommy, a graduate of Tennessee Tech, made his coaching debut at John Curtis High School as a strength coach/assistant football coach.

After working there for six years until 1994, he had coaching stints at two other prominent college football programs: the University of Tennessee (1994-98) and the University of Miami (1998-2000).

Then, from 2000 to 2021, Moffitt served as S&C director at LSU. While there, he aided head coaches Nick Saban, Les Miles, and Ed Orgeron, all winning national championships.

Other coaching stints were at the University of Miami and the University of Tennessee, where he was a part of the national championship football team.

Now, as he steps into this new role at Texas A&M, football executives keenly anticipate the transformative potential he brings.

The college football S&C director and his wife, Jill Beron Moffitt, share three grown-up sons: Clay, Aaron, and Brady. All of his sons are attendants of Lousiana State University.

Tommy, whose Instagram bio reads “cancer survivor,” has been married to Jill since June 30, 1990. On their 33rd wedding anniversary, his wife posted a carousel of pictures consisting of their wedding picture and wrote, “Cheers to 33 years!!”

The couple’s oldest son, Clay, was born on September 24, 1995, and is 29 now. He is a partner & registered representative at Altus Wealth Management (2020- present).

Clay is married to his girlfriend-turned-wife, Brooke Moffitt (nee Morris). They married on January 28, 2023, after two years of engagement.

Tommy’s middle child, Aaron (b. April 6, 1999), played collegiate football at LSU. He works as a personal trainer.
