The St. Louis community is in mourning after the devastating loss of Colin Brown, a beloved high school hockey player, who was tragically shot on Saturday night, November 23, 2024.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. when Colin was traveling home with his family on Interstate 55 after playing a hockey game.

Colin was riding in a vehicle driven by his father when a bullet struck him.

He was rushed to a children’s hospital, where he remained in critical condition for several days before succumbing to his injuries.

In a final act of generosity, Colin’s family chose to donate his organs, allowing him to give the Gift of life to others and fulfilling his reputation as someone who always sought to help those around him.

On Wednesday, hospital staff, family, and friends gathered for his moving “Walk of life,” honoring his legacy as an organ donor.

Colin Brown Was A Student At CBC High School

Colin, a Christian Brothers College (CBC) High School junior, transferred to the school earlier this year from O’Fallon, Illinois.

He was known for his academic excellence; Colin was enrolled in Honors courses and was a dedicated athlete.

He played for the CBC Varsity Hockey team, the Affton Americans Hockey Club, and the O’Fallon Ice Hockey Club.

The CBC High School community paid tribute to Colin by draping his hockey jersey over a chair in the school chapel.

In a heartfelt statement, the school said -:

Colin joined our brotherhood this fall, transferring to CBC from his previous high school in O’Fallon, IL. He was a talented and dedicated student who was enrolled in Honors courses, and he was a valuable member of our CBC Varsity Hockey team.

They plan to honor Colin with a pregame moment of silence and contribute proceeds from a 50/50 raffle to his family.

Additionally, the Dawg Nation Hockey Foundation offers a three-to-one match for every dollar donated to Colin’s family, up to $2,500.

According to the news reports, authorities are treating Colin’s death as a homicide and are actively investigating the case.

Detectives have obtained video evidence of the incident, but details regarding the suspect or the vehicle involved remain unclear.

Police have not yet disclosed any potential suspect information related to the shooting that resulted in Colin’s death.

St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones shared her condolences, stating:

“The death of Colin Brown is devastating news for our whole community. We were all praying for a miracle and are now overwhelmed with grief, sadness, and anger that this innocent teenager’s life has been taken. As the mother of a teenage son, I grieve with all who knew and loved this young man. We will never have true justice for the loss of Colin’s life. But I know that the great officers of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department will continue to do all they can to find who is responsible for this senseless and reckless act of violence and hold them accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Everyone who knew and loved Colin is in my prayers.”
