The St. Louis community is in mourning after the devastating loss of Colin Brown, a beloved high school hockey player, who was tragically shot on Saturday night, November 23, 2024.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. when Colin was traveling home with his family on Interstate 55 after playing a hockey game.

Colin was riding in a vehicle driven by his father when a bullet struck him.

He was rushed to a children’s hospital, where he remained in critical condition for several days before succumbing to his injuries.

In a final act of generosity, Colin’s family chose to donate his organs, allowing him to give the Gift of life to others and fulfilling his reputation as someone who always sought to help those around him.

On Wednesday, hospital staff, family, and friends gathered for his moving “Walk of life,” honoring his legacy as an organ donor.

We were all praying for a miracle and are now overwhelmed with grief, sadness, and anger that this innocent teenager’s life has been taken. As the mother of a teenage son, I grieve with all who knew and loved this young man. We will never have true justice for the loss of Colin’s life. But I know that the great officers of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department will continue to do all they can to find who is responsible for this senseless and reckless act of violence and hold them accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Everyone who knew and loved Colin is in my prayers.”
