Hovland is a famous professional golfer from Norway who was born on September 18, 1997.

After winning the U.S. Amateur in 2018, he went on to win the 2020 Puerto Rico Open on the PGA Tour and the 2021 BMW International Open on the European Tour, becoming the first Norwegian to achieve the feat.

Hovland won the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic in January 2022. With a birdie, he defeated Richard Bland on the opening hole of the playoff.

How Viktor Hovland’s Career Started?

At age 11, Viktor began playing golf when his father gave him some American clubs.

He continued the sport and won the 2014 Norwegian Amateur Golf Championship. Hovland played college golf at Oklahoma State University and improved tremendously. 

He achieved notoriety in 2018 by being the first golfer from Norway to win the U.S. Amateur.

In 2019, he was the top-ranked amateur in the whole world. He got invited to the 2019 Masters Tournament, 2019 U.S. Open, and 2019 Open Championship when he was still an amateur.

Following the 2019 U.S. Open, Hovland turned professional, and he made his debut at the Travelers Championship.

He has won seven professional matches in just four years, including three on the PGA Tour, two on the European Tour, and two on other professional tours.

Hovland successfully defended his championship at the Hero World Challenge in Albany, Bahamas, in December 2022, joining Tiger Woods as the only competitor to have won the competition twice in a row.
