Ethan Willard, a Martinsville, Virginia native and standout baseball player, passed away this week unexpectedly at an untimely age of 12, leaving his loved ones heartbroken.

While the actual reasons regarding the untimely death of Ethan Willard are not yet disclosed, many of his loved ones are honoring him on social media and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

“He was the sweetest,funniest lil human I knew…. He use to write me letters saying he was my bf.. There was never a dull moment with him…. Heaven definitely gained a Angel…Yall please pray for the Willard Family..”

Ethan Willard touched the lives of many with his exceptional athletic skills and his kind, cheerful nature. He began his baseball journey from a very young age.

Furthermore, Ethan was a standout for the Virginia Valor 13U team, where he played a pivotal role in a remarkable 2025 season.

Ethan’s passion for the game extended beyond the Virginia Valor, as he also played for the Hall Hammerheads 10U team, based in Stuart, VA.

He contributed to his team’s success in multiple tournaments. Notably, in September 2024, Ethan’s 12U team captured a tournament championship at Cluster Springs Ball Park.

Throughout his career, Ethan played in 21 events, accumulating a 27-37 record, with several top finishes, including 1st place three times and 2nd place three times.

As a key player, he helped elevate his teams to competitive success.

Likewise, Ethan’s hard work and dedication earned him the top state ranking in the Virginia Valor 13U and solidified his place as a rising star in youth baseball.

Ethan’s legacy as a gifted player is deeply cherished by his family, teammates, and loved ones.

Ethan Willard is Survived By his Parents, David and Kaleigh, Siblings, and the Entire Family

Ethan Willard was born on August 25, 2013, as the second of four sons to parents David and Kaleigh Willard.

In addition to being an amazing athlete, Ethan Willard was also a great son to his parents, often expressing his love for them on social media.

David and Kaleigh Willard also often share pictures of their second son, expressing their love and pride for Ethan Willard.

Furthermore, the untimely death of Ethan Willard has left a profound void in the lives of his parents and family.

While his mother, Kaleigh, hasn’t released any statement as she is grieving the loss of her beloved son, Ethan’s father, David Willard, who works as a Welder at John Deere, shared a beautiful picture of him with his son Ethan on Facebook and wrote, “Man, this one hurts,” expressing his sorrow.

Ethan Willard was also a great brother to his three siblings.

Furthermore, Ethan followed in the footsteps of his elder brother, Hunter Willard, a baseball star at Magna Vista High School, who is set to graduate in 2028. He also played for the Dirtbags 15U Prime.

Hunter Willard took to his social media to express his sorrow and pay tribute to his late brother, Ethan Willard.

The post reads:

“Didn’t think i’d ever have to make a post like this for you. been trying to think about what to say and this is all i got for the time being. thank you for everything, couldn’t have asked for a better kid to call my brother. you were my all time throwing partner, my gym buddy and everything I needed you to be. anytime I needed your help with practice or just talking about life you didn’t hesitate. That’s just who you were, smallest kid in the room with the most heart and the biggest smile. kills me knowing I won’t see you after a big win or sending you videos of my game. this one’s gonna sit on me for a while. But I promise im gonna finish what we always talked about. You better have your hoop shoes on when I get up there kid, we got one last 1v1 to play❤️.”

In addition to his parents, David and Kaleigh, and three brothers, Ethan Willard is survived by his grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and the entire family.
