Before their wedding, the couple already had a child, a son, born in September 2021. The two had only gone public with their relationship only a few months earlier before the delivery of their child.

On May 14, 2021, Waisea shared a picture of Joanna, captioning it, “YOU ALWAYS GAIN BY GIVING LOVE.” This was the first time the rugby player opened up about his romantic life with his fans on the internet.

A month after the post, Waisea revealed he was going to be a first-time father, as he shared a photo of Joanna lying down with the baby bump covered with an oversized sweater.

Last year, on December 19, 2022, the couple welcomed their second child, a baby girl. Nauacalevu has shared only a few pictures of his baby girl and has tried to cover her face as much as possible.

Waisea Nayacalevu’s parents, Lolive and Waisale, are no longer together. The couple went their separate ways when the rugby player was 14.

In an interview, Lolive said there was a time when the family couldn’t afford to buy bread for breakfast, but even during those difficult years, she raised her sons singlehandedly.

Waisea connected with his father later in life and would help him out on their farm. Before the start of the Rugby World Cup, Waisale said his son never lost focus on becoming a rugby player despite several hurdles.

They also have two sisters who followed in their footsteps. In 2015, there was news of their younger sister, Airini Lomaloma, wanting to become a rugby player.

She received the Sportswoman of the Year title during Year 12 with Ballantine Memorial School. In her interview, Airini said she learned to play rugby from her two brothers.

Airini represented Fiji in rugby during the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2015, but since there hasn’t been any news about her.

In 2021, the rugby player’s other sister, Seleima Vuidravuwalu, also came out front, sharing her brother inspired by her to pick up the sport. At the time, Seleima was 19 and had been named to the 2021 Women’s Rugby World Cup extended squad.

She also had featured for the Uprising 7s women’s team and had participated in the two-day Uprising 7s tournament that year.
