The outfielder wrote a heartfelt post to the organization after he was traded to the Nationals. Wood wrote,

Wanted to take a moment to thank the Padres for giving me the chance to live my dream and start my career. I want to thank all my instructors, coaches, and teammates, and wish them good luck on their journeys.
