A former high school athlete from Waukee, Iowa, Diego Posadas, passed away on December 10, 2025, leaving behind his parents and siblings.
Diego attended Waukee Elementary School and Waukee Middle School, and he graduated from Waukee Northwest High School in 2024.
During his academic years, he worked multiple jobs and enjoyed exploring various sports.
He had a strong interest in football, basketball, baseball, and wrestling, and his favorite activity was watersports on Table Rock Lake during the summer.
The Posadas Family Needs Community Support for Their Son Diego Posadas’ Funeral Rituals!
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, on January 31, 2006, Diego was a lifelong resident of Waukee, where he was raised along with several siblings.
Diego passed away on December 10, 2025. Before his passing, he was in the NICU for over 30 days and was later sent home.
He was the loving son of his mother, Shelly Tichy, and his father, Oscar Posadas.
Diego is also survived by his siblings: Ariana Posadas, Ian Deuanephenh, Evan Posadas, Launna Posadas, and Oscar Posadas Jr.
Additionally, he also had a stepmother, May Posadas, and Brian Jones, who is the fiancé of Diego’s biological mother, Shelly.
Not just his parents and siblings, Diego Posadas also leaves behind his grandmothers, Scherry Tichy, Laura Cruz, and Nouone Deuanephenh.
While his death has indeed brought grief to his family members, the community also seems to be mourning.
Following his passing, one of his neighbors, Morgan Brown, recently organized a GoFundMe campaign to help the family lay Diego to rest.
As the Christmas season approaches, Morgan wanted the community to support the Posadas family in giving their son a proper farewell and to offer sympathy during this difficult time.
Ernst Funeral Home, 80 NE Dartmoor Drive, Waukee, has taken on the responsibility of Diego Posadas’ funeral, which is set to be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Following that, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1200 S. Warrior Lane, Waukee.
