Born in 1976, Jon Marks always aspired to be on radio stations and seized every opportunity that came his way.

A Willow Grove, Pa. native and Upper Moreland High School graduate, Jon Marks has made a mark in his career.

After attending Hawaii Pacific University and Temple University, Jon initiated his radio career at WNJC in Washington Township, New Jersey.

From 2006 to 2016, he held various producing and hosting roles at WPEN-AM/FM.

In 2017, Marks became the evening host at WIP. Later that year, following the departure of Chris Carlin, he transitioned to afternoons alongside former Eagles linebacker Ike Reese.

What Was Jon Marks Salary In WIP?

Throughout Marks’ hosting tenure, WIP consistently held the position of either the #1 or #2 sports talk radio program in all of Philadelphia.

His departure is now causing a stir among listeners, who also question its reasons.

One of the questions revolves around his salary and whether he was adequately compensated or not.

However, the reason was not his salary. Sources assume that the WIP host, Jon, earned above $85,000 annually.

Similarly, some sources also claim his net worth to be above $1 million.

The majority of his earnings stem from hosting various sports radio shows throughout the years.

Why Did Marks Leave 94 WIP FM?

The sudden announcement of Jon’s departure came as unexpected news for all the fans and the media.

Jon Marks dedicated almost 7 years of his career to working for 94WIP FM radio.

However, in the closing moments of Monday’s show, Marks announced that he is departing from the station after six years.

Expressing emotion, Marks conveyed that it was a “difficult decision,” but he chose to depart from the drive-time show to dedicate more time to his family.

This is the show that you wait your whole career for. You don’t leave that show — you stay with the show, you make it better, and you continue to do it,” Marks said.

But where I am with my life, and where my kids are, … I thought, ‘Can I do this another five years?’ And I just can’t imagine not having dinner with all my kids.”

Similarly, Jon announced that his final show with 94WIP will take place on Wednesday, December 20.
