An American basketball player, Wesley Matthews of the Milwaukee Bucks, grew up in San Antonio, Texas, with his parents, Pam Moore and Wes Matthews.
As the child of a former NBA player, Wesley Matthews always had a passion for the game.
Seeing both his parents play basketball made him realize that he was more interested in basketball than any other sport.
He eventually entered the NBA draft in 2009 but went undrafted. The same year, he joined Utah Jazz for The Orlando Summer League and Sacramento Kings in the Las Vegas Summer League.
On July 21, 2010, Matthews signed a five-year contract with the Portland Trail Blazers. During his five years with Trail Blazers, he suppressed Terry Porter’s franchise record of 773 and became the all-time career leader in three-point field goals.
In the following years, he played for Dallas Mavericks, the New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers, and Los Angeles Lakers.
Nowadays, he is playing for Milwaukee Bucks after being re-signed on December 2021 as a shooting guard.
Wesley Matthews Parents: Pam Moore And Wes Matthews
Wesley Matthews was born on October 14, 1986, in San Antonio, Texas, to his parents, Pam Moore And Wes Matthews.
His father, Wesley Jowl Matthews Sr., born on August 24, 1959, in Sarasota, Florida, was a former NBA player.
Wes graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and eventually joined the University of Wisconsin.
Later, he was selected by the Washington Bullets with the 14th pick in the 1980 NBA draft.
He played nine seasons in the league with the Bullets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, and Los Angeles Lakers and also has won NBA championships with Los Angeles Lakers.
Matthews Sr. announced his retirement from professional basketball in 1996.
Like his father, his mother Pam was also a standout basketball player.
After graduating from Madison Memorial High School, she enrolled at the University of Wisconsin, where she led the basketball team in both scoring and rebounding in her freshman in 1977-78.
Moreover, she was also an All-American 400-meter runner. Wesley didn’t spend much time with father since their parents got divorced when he was 2 years old.
According to him, he didn’t pick up a basketball and start playing because he wanted to be like his father; he did it because he wanted to be his mother.
Matthew also got a tattoo honoring his mother for his basketball success on his biceps that read ‘Dynamic Duo” in cursive with his initial, “WM,” and his mom’s initials, “PM.”
