Gerard Whateley is an Australian sports broadcaster and writer who is currently a chief sports caller and host of the radio program Whateley for sports radio station SEN1116.

Aside from that, Whateley also co-hosts the Fox Footy TV channel’s AFL 360, a talk show about the Australian Rules Football League. He has been working as a writer for the Herald Sun since the nineties.

In his long career as a media person, Gerard was associated with several popular news channels, including ABC, Channel Ten, and Fox Sports. 

Moreover, Whateley is a published author, having written the book Black Caviar: The Horse of a Lifetime in 2012.

The pair reportedly met in their teens while attending the church in the southeastern suburb of Mulgrave in Melbourne. 

Born and raised in Melbourne, like Whateley, Claire Murphy earned her bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from La Trobe University in Melbourne. She later did her master’s from the University of Melbourne.

After graduating, Claire joined the Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne, where she worked for around 12 years. Besides, she spent almost two years working for the Australian Red Cross in the early 2020s.

Currently, she is associated with various health organizations in Victoria, including being a board of directors member at the Victorian HealthCare Association and Timboon and District Healthcare Service.

Although Gerard was initially a Fitzroy FC fan, he shifted his allegiance to Geelong FC early in his life after he saw the legendary rules footballer Gary Ablett in the eighties.

Meanwhile, Claire and her family were Geelong supporters.

After marrying Claire, Gerard’s support for Geelong became permanent, and all their kids, too, support the team now. The pair lives in Melbourne, Victoria, as of this writing.
