Reed Blankenship doesn’t have a wife but has a girlfriend in Elsa Shafer. The Philadelphia Eagles safety, Reed, does not come from a family with a sporting background, but his girlfriend does.
Elsa Shafer is the only daughter of Scott and Missy Elliott Shafer. Elsa’s father, Scott Shafer, is a reputable football coach, having worked mostly as a defensive coach.
Scott also served as the head coach of Syracuse University from 2013-2015. The football coach’s journey began in 1991 at Indiana University as a graduate assistant, and he slowly climbed the ranks.
His duties as a defensive coordinator began in 2000 at Northern Illinois University. Since then, Scott has worked with several universities, including Illinois, Western Michigan, Stanford, Michigan, Syracuse, and currently at Middle Tennessee.
Elsa’s older brother, Wolfgang Shafer, followed in his father’s footsteps and is currently an assistant coach at Indiana State University. He previously worked at Marietta College and also served as a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Texas at Austin and Middle Tennessee State University.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Elsa announced earlier this year she had become a teacher. Reed Blankenship’s girlfriend shared an Instagram post of her in the Kindergarten class.
The whiteboard in front of her had a projector image that read, “Welcome to Kindergarten, Ms. Shafer’s Class.” She also recently shared an Instagram story celebrating Grinch Day in Kindergarten.
With her father working as a football coach, Elsa had to move a lot from one place to another. Previously, in 2017, Elsa shared a family photo as the Shafers left Syracuse after eight years to move to Tennessee.
On her Instagram handle, Elsa has shared several family snaps, including her visiting her dad and brother during their respective team’s matchday.

The Eagles safety Reed Blankenship went public with his romance earlier this year in July. The young couple celebrated the Fourth of July in Florida with their close friends.
It was Reed who first shared a snap of Elsa on his Instagram handle. He shared a photo of him and Elsa having fun in a yacht at Key West The Florida Keys. He captioned the post, “Much needed Keys trip.”
After that post, in August, Elsa was seen with Reed attending Eagles’ practice session. She wrote, “Bring your girlfriend to work day.”
Elsa once again shared another romantic post with her NFL boyfriend as she attended the Eagles’ game against the Buffalo Bills. She captioned the post, “Victory Monday looks better in Kelly green.”
