Shyanne’s father, Bradley Dean Sellers, is a former basketball power forward/center who played in the NBA (Bulls, Seattle, and Timberwolves) from 1986 to 1994. Later, he played overseas until his retirement in 1999.

Sellers was the 9th overall pick in the 1989 NBA draft, joining the fellow draftees: Brad Daugherty, Dell Curry (Stephen Curry‘s father), Arvydas Sabonis, and Dennis Rodman, among others.

Then, from 2001 to 2011, he served as the director of economic development for the City of Warrensville Heights.

Brad’s eldest daughter, Sydney, born on February 14, 1996, is 28 now. She is nearly seven years older than Shyanne. Other daughters, Syarra (b. February 26, 1999) and Shayla (b. April 2001), are 3 and 2 years older than her.

Ranked #22 in the 2021 recruiting class, Shyanne enrolled at the University of Maryland to play for the Maryland Terrapins. As a freshman (in 2021-22), she averaged 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

During her sophomore year (2022-23), she scored double figures in 28 out of 35 games. As a result, she became the All-Big Ten Defensive Team and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.

Her other sister, Shayla, played basketball for Purdue Fort Wayne in Indiana, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in general studies in May 2023.
