On the evening of Sunday, June 8, a lightning strike at The Bridges Golf Course, located north of Dallas, resulted in a heartbreaking tragedy involving a father and son.
The son, Spencer Loalbo, in his 40s, died after being taken to Celina Methodist Hospital.
His father, Robert Edward, who is in his 70s, was critically injured and remains in serious condition at Baylor McKinney Hospital.
Spencer leaves behind his wife, Kaylee, and their three young daughters: Evelynn, Charlotte, and Norah.
Kaylee shared how their life together began in College Station, where they first met and later reconnected in North Texas.
Over the years, Spencer became not only a dedicated husband but also a caring and involved father.
He balanced his love for sports and the outdoors with being a playful, hands-on dad.
Whether it was joining in his daughters’ games or simply spending time with them, Spencer brought warmth and love to their home.
Tragic Loss Of Spencer: Family, Friends Remember His Kind Heart and Ask for Support
Over the weekend, Loalbo spent time with her extended family and her husband Spencer, along with their three children. As usual, they went to church on Sunday morning.
Later that day, while Loalbo was putting their youngest child down for a nap, Spencer left to play golf with his father in Gunter. She didn’t get to say goodbye before he left.
Around 5:15 p.m., although bad weather wasn’t expected for a few more hours, a sudden storm cloud appeared.
A lightning strike hit Spencer, killing him. His father was also struck and is currently in the hospital in McKinney.
Kaylee described Spencer as being known for his kind and giving nature.
He often carried extra money in case someone needed help, and once gave his shoes to a stranger. He cared deeply about others and always tried to do the right thing.
His faith was essential to him, and last year, he even baptized their oldest daughter.
Now, their daughter Evelynn comforts her younger sisters by reminding them that their dad is still with them in spirit, even if he’s no longer here.
Similarly, a friend, Steven Sinclair, expressed that their yearly hunting trips won’t be the same without Spencer, and that’s been especially tough for him. He will always cherish those memories.
Right now, Steven is asking for prayers for Spencer’s family because they are going through a tough time.
He also said that if anyone wants to help the family financially, every donation will make a difference.
He ended by saying ‘rest in peace’ to his brother and that he believes Spencer is out there now, enjoying what he loved: fishing and having fun.
The past two days have been extremely difficult since I received the news of Spencer’s passing. Filled with ups and downs i tried to remeber the fun we allways had. He was one hell of a friend, with the biggest heart i have ever seen. One of the best husbands, father, brother and son that anyone could ever ask for.
Steven Sinclair
Our yearly hunting trips will never be the same and I am really struggling with that. I will cherish those trips forever.
But right now I ask for your prayers for this family. They need every bit we can give them as this will be a very difficult road. Also if you feel lead to help this family every dollar will count.
RIP my brotha I love ya.
I know you are on a flat somewhere ripping some lips as that’s what he always wanted to do.
Spencer’s visitation will be on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Slay Memorial Chapel, 400 S. Hwy 377, Aubrey, TX.
