Utah native and two-time All-American wrestler Douglas Kopecky passed away on February 10, 2025. Despite his early success as a wrestler, Douglas went on to make a name for himself in the corporate world.
Born on June 14, 1964, Kopecky passed at age 60 in Syracuse, New York. Though he was born in Utah, Douglas found his love for wrestling in Nebraska.
Before high school, Kopecky’s family moved to Nebraska, where he fell in love with wrestling.
In his junior year, he relocated to Utah, where he continued his wrestling journey at Clearfield High School.
Douglas went on to an undefeated season in junior and senior year and was awarded as a two-time All-American.
Later in his life, Doug became an entrepreneur and ran his own business.
He is one of four kids of Carma Hull and James Edward Kopecky and is survived by his parents and his three brothers: Edward, Todd, and Danny Kopecky.
The obituary published by the Kopecky family states that Doug’s funeral services will be held at Leavitt Mortuary in Ogden, Utah, on February 20.
Douglas Kopecky’s Cause of Death Remains Unknown
The former wrestler left the world at an early age, and his family hasn’t shared the cause of his demise in the obituary shared by them.
Doug shared his last Facebook post on November 24, 2024, in which he looked well.
A few of his close friends have started leaving their condolences on his Facebook handle.
One of his close friends, David Townley, wrote, “So sorry to hear bud! Love you brother!” and another friend shared a crying emoji.
Previously, Doug was active on Instagram and shared several pictures of his grandkids.
He last shared a picture of his granddaughter in 2016 and, since then, remained inactive on the photo-sharing platform.
In his obituary, there is no mention of his wife, and it seems he might’ve been divorced.
It is believed that Doug was the owner of K. Lending Entertainment and had been running the company since 1989.
