The two probably first crossed paths at USC, and it might have been their shared interest in golf that brought them close.
Dubbed the next Tiger Woods by the golf community, Amari’s father, Andre, followed Tiger Woods’ dad’s blueprint when it came to raising Amari.
In the US Open, Avery is going against the likes of Jenny Shin and Anna Nordqvist. Winning the tournament would be a massive accomplishment, but for Amari, it already feels like a dream to play at a venue where her idol Tiger Woods won several times.

Amari Avery’s boyfriend, Gavin Aurilia, comes from a family full of athletes. Gavin, a golfer at the University of Southern California, graduated from Arcadia High.
At Arcada, Gavin won the 2019 Division II state championship and led his squad to a third-place state finish. A year later, he led his team to a second-position finish and on individual ranking, finished fifth.
He began his career at USC in 2021 and finished fourth on the team. His season best was 29th at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. Gavin made his debut at the Marquette Intercollegiate and tied for 34th.

Going back to his family, Gavin’s father might be a familiar name to a few baseball fans. Rich Aurilia played for four MLB franchises in his 14-year-long career.
Rich began his MLB career in 1992 and was drafted by the Texas Rangers. But he was later traded to San Francisco Giants. He made his debut for the Giants on September 6, 1995, and is a one-time All-Star, receiving the honor in 2001.
He had a golden phase from 1999-2001, where he led the NL shortstops in home runs, winning Silver Slugger Award in 2001. But after being traded to Seattle Mariners in 2004, Rich was never the same.
Aurilia ended his career in 2009 with the Giants and is currently a baseball analyst at NBC Sports Bay Area. He was previously married to singer/songwriter Raquel Aurilia with whom he shares Gavin and Chaz.
Gavin’s brother, Chaz Aurilia, is a golf player and recently graduated from the University of Arizona. In 2019, with his high school team Arcadia High, he won the 2019 AGA Thunderbird Invitational.
He was also a two-time Arizona All-State selection. Chaz’s best career performance came in Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate in his senior season.

The two golf players, Amari and Gavin, have kept their love life out of social media. Though we have read about Gavin caddying for his girlfriend, the two haven’t shared any pictures related to it.
In the recent US Open qualifiers, Gavin was caddying for Amari instead of her father, who was caddying for her sister. During the rounds, Gavin would talk about what they would eat after the round and summer vacation plans like any good boyfriend.
He did so to calm down Amari and not make her lose concentration because it would mean the world for Amari to qualify to play a Grand Slam tournament.
And after Amari qualified for the US Open, Gavin was the first to receive a hug from Amari. Gavin is available on Instagram with the username @gavinaurilia but has kept his handle private.
Amari has also kept her social media page free from any content of her and Gavin, with all her posts being of golf.
