After that, Benfica won the Portuguese Cup and completed the historic treble (league, cup, and Taca da Liga).

Valencia (2014 – 2016)

Gomes’s next destination would be Spain, where he signed a one-season loan deal with top-flight club Valencia.

His La Liga debut came in a 1-1 draw against Sevilla on 17 July 2014. Similarly, his first goal came in a 3-0 win against Getafe on 22 September 2014.

In his first season with Valencia, Gomes made 33 appearances and scored four goals. After that, he signed a long-term contract with Valencia, keeping him with the club until 30 June 2020

Barcelona (2016 – 2019)

However, his journey with Valencia was to end prematurely, as Gomes was transferred to Barcelona on 21 July 2016 for a fee of €35 million-plus €20 million in add-ons.

Although Gomes made frequent appearances for Barcelona, his arrival to the club got voted as the worst signing of the season, as stated by the magazine Marca. 

In total, Gomes made 46 appearances for Barcelona and scored three goals.

Everton (2018 – 2020)

Andres Gomes then moved on to Everton on 9 August 2018, on a season-long loan deal for €2.25 million.

Despite sustaining a leg injury during pre-season, Everton signed Gomes to make him a Toffee. 

Gomes’s made his Premier League debut on 21 October 2018, where he featured for 82 minutes in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Gomes’ addition to an Everton team already with Morgan Scheiderlin, Gylfi Sigurdsson, and Tom Davies looked extremely promising. 

Gomes scored his debut goal for the Toffees on 2 February 2019, in a 1-3 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Unfortunately, that goal is the only goal he has scored for the Toffees to date. Andres Gomes became a regular starter and a top contributor for Sam Allardyce’s Everton.
