Early Career 

Brown attended Ocean View High School, where as a junior, he was voted league MVP and averaged 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

The defensive star was selected CIF Southern Section Player of the Year and a member of the first-team all-state that year after leading the Seahawks to a CIF Southern Section title and a state runner-up finish.

College Career 

Brown studied at Stanford between 2010 and 2015. Due to a hip ailment, Brown had to take a medical redshirt in his true junior season of 2012–2013.

He hit 47.5 percent from the field, 45.3 percent from outside the arc, and 78.5 percent on free throws in his redshirt junior season of 2013–14, averaging 12.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

Amid the Cardinal’s NCAA Tournament run to the Sweet 16, he was voted the Pac-12’s Most Improved Player.

While averaging 14.8 points (tenth in the Pac-12), a team-high 6.9 rebounds (8th), and 2.5 assists per game as a senior, Brown guided Stanford to the NIT title.

At 79.4%, he had the eighth-best free-throw percentage in the Pac-12. He averaged 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game throughout the course of his career.

In May 2014, Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in communication. During his redshirt senior year, he enrolled in Stanford’s MA in media studies program.

Professional Career 

The Los Angeles Lakers selected Brown with the 34th overall choice in the 2015 NBA Draft on June 25, 2015. The shooting guard signed with the team on July 9.

On October 30, he made his Lakers debut, coming off the bench to score five points in a defeat to the Sacramento Kings.

He was frequently assigned to the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Lakers’ D-League franchise, during his first season. On October 24, 2016, the Lakers released him.

The Erie BayHawks made Brown their first-round pick in the 2016 NBA Development League Draft on October 30, 2016. In three games, Brown averaged 29.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.

On November 21, Brown signed with the New Orleans Pelicans; after the release from the team on December 9, the defensive star agreed to a 10-day deal with the Orlando Magic on January 22, 2017.

Brown rejoined the BayHawks on February 2, 2017, after the 10-day contract had ended. Then, the NBA shooting guard star was selected for the Eastern Conference All-Star team for the 2017 NBA D-League All-Star Game four days later.

The Minnesota Timberwolves signed Brown to a two-way deal on August 1, 2017. He will split his time between the Timberwolves and their G-League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves, in accordance with the rules of the contract.

Brown is the perfect size for an NBA wing, standing around 6’7 with a wingspan of 6’9.5 and a wiry 224-pound build.
