Brandon Goodwin | Early Life, Family & Education

On October 2, 1995, Goodwin was born in Norcross, Georgia, to his parents. His mother’s name is Swansetta Goodwin.

Early Career

Brandon Goodwin completed his high school education at Norcross High School, located in his hometown.

Goodwin was selected Georgia 6A Player of the Year and received other accolades, including All-State First Team, Gwinnett Daily Post Player of the Year, and Atlanta Journal-Constitution Gwinnett Player of the Year.

Similarly, after finishing his primary schooling, he went on to the University of Central Florida (UCF) to continue his collegiate degree. He was a member of Knights for the 2013-14 seasons.

Brandon only stayed at UCF for two years since he was discovered riding his bike around campus following his freshman year.

Leaving all the good and bad memories alone, Brandon was transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University, located in Florida.

He was not permitted to participate for a season since he was a transfer student. After his fresh start at a new college, he was named “ASUN Conference Newcomer of the Year.”

As a team player of the Eagles, Brandon was able to assist his team in an NCAA Tournament. The Eagles were also honored as Atlantic Sun Tournament MVP.

Speaking of his junior season, Brandon competed in 28 games during his junior season, scoring double digits in two of them.

Similarly, after his junior season, Brandon decided to declare for the 2017 NBA Draft without an agent.

Professional Career

After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft, Brandon began his professional career and signed a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2018 NBA Summer League.

After joining the Grizzlies for training camp, he continued his career with them. The Grizzlies waived him as one of the last roasters cuts a month later.

He played in nine games with the Memphis Hustle, the Grizzlies NBA G League affiliate, and averaged 23.4 points and 5.3 rebounds.

Similarly, Brandon later signed with Denver Nuggets in 2018, and the NBA gave the Nuggets an injury hardship relief exemption, enabling them to add Goodwin to an otherwise full roster.

Goodwin was released on December 10th, despite not having played in any games. He was later requested to return to Hustle in 2018; however, he signed with Nuggets as a two-way agreement a few days later.

Brandon was spotted with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2019 NBA season after signing a two-way deal with the team on August 6, 2019. He resigned with them on a multi-year deal after a year.

He could not attend the NBA playoffs in 2021 due to a respiratory ailment. Brandon signed with the New York Knicks on October 14 and entered the Westchester Knicks as an affiliated player.
