Josh Selby | Early Life, Family, and Education
Joshua Cornell Selby was born on March 27, 1991, under the Aries sun sign. As a native of Baltimore, Maryland, he was born in a single-parent household to Maeshon Witherspoon.
Indeed, not much is known about his childhood days, and Selby often titles them as “rough times.” His childhood days were tough growing up in a gunfire-filled neighborhood in West Baltimore.

Introduction to Basketball
As a matter of fact, Josh’s mother, Witherspoon, used to be a basketball player at Overlea High School in Baltimore. After high school, she even gained a basketball scholarship offer at Coppin State.
Therefore, she would pass on her known talent to her son at a tender age. Later, when Josh was seven, she concluded that his left hand was weak.
She always took him to the gym and made him bounce the ball and dribble with only his left hand. Of course, Josh would often cry, begging him to stop it. Finally, however, she would urge him to complete it.
Josh posted 32 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals per game during his senior season as a high schooler.
Recruitment to the College Team
Following his high school graduation, Josh had first decided to commit to the University of Tennessee. However, he changed his decision later in 2009.
Later in 2010, Josh picked to commit to the University of Kansas over Kentucky, UConn, and Arizona. It was all announced at the 2010 Jordan Brand Classic at Madison Square Garden live on ESPN2.
Altogether, Josh entered the college grounds as the #1 rated recruit on the recruiting website Rivals.com.
He played under Kansas coach Bill Self and commenced the journey as the dunk contest winner before the game during his tenure.

Memphis Grizzlies
Initially, Josh played for the Reno Bighorns, where he bagged the 2012 NBA Summer League. Additionally, he also earned MVP honors alongside Damian Lillard.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Later in 2013, Memphis Grizzlies traded Josh alongside Marreese Speights and Wayne Ellington to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
