A beloved British boxing champion known as “The Hitman,” Ricky Hatton, passed away on September 14, 2022, at the age of 46, leaving behind his three children.
Reportedly, Ricky was found at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester, and police stated the death wasn’t suspicious.
Ricky Hatton is survived by his three beloved children: Millie, Fearne, and Campbell, as well as a granddaughter, Lyla.
The boxing champion first experienced parenthood with the arrival of his firstborn in 2001.
Ricky and his former partner, Claire, welcomed his eldest son, Campbell Hatton, on January 9, 2001.
Whereas his two daughters were born from his relationship with his former fiancée, Jennifer Dooley.
Riley’s daughter, Millie Hatton, was born on September 17, 2011, and his youngest, Fearne Hatton, was born on July 31, 2013.
He often shared moments with them. Just a few weeks before his passing, Ricky posted a photo on Instagram with Millie and Fearne during a family trip to Tenerife.
On the post, he wrote:

Likewise, Riley also shared a picture with his granddaughter Lyla on her 7th birthday.
His granddaughter, Lyla Hatton, was born on August 27, 2018.
Ricky Hatton Supported His Son Campbell Hatton’s Decision to Retire From Boxing!
The eldest of Hatton’s kids, Campbell Hatton, followed in Riley’s footsteps and pursued a career in professional boxing.
He was born in Lancashire and grew up as a passionate Manchester City fan, often wearing the team’s logo on his boxing shorts.
Campbell made his professional boxing debut on March 27, 2021, on the undercard of Alexander Povetkin vs. Dillian Whyte II.
He won against Jesus Ruiz by a points decision. Later that year, on September 25, he faced Sonni Martinez and won by a controversial decision during the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight.
Campbell achieved his first knockout victory on December 3, 2021, defeating Attila Csereklye.
He started strong, winning his first 14 fights. However, in 2024, Campbell faced challenges.
Campbell lost two consecutive fights to James Flint by points, which affected his confidence.
In March 2025, he hired his father, Ricky, as his trainer to help him get back on track. However, he decided to retire from the sport.
In July 2025, Ricky announced Campbell’s retirement from boxing at age 24. In an interview with Boxing Now, Ricky explained,
Campbell won’t fight again. He gave it a go in the amateurs, then went pro. He fought for the Area title and got beaten. I thought he lost the first fight, but the second was close. He lost a little bit of his mojo, and then a few things went wrong. Sadly, he lost one of his best friends, Justin.
Ricky noted that Campbell’s heart was no longer in boxing, and he supported his son’s decision to step away from the sport.
Campbell has since started a new career as a solar panel installer, prioritizing his well-being.
