Brock Wyatt Holt shortly Brock Holt was born on June 11, 1988, in Fort Worth, Texas, to his parents Joel Holt and GayLynn Holt.

Along with his parents, Brock has a sister named Shelby Holt and a brother Garrett Holt. His family was not a huge fan of Baseball. In fact, Brock was the first player to play baseball with his family.

From a very young age, Brock was interested in playing baseball. As a kid, Brock used to swing his bat with his left hand.

At first, his parents thought he was doing wrong. Further, Holt’s skills and athleticism could not go unnoticed by his parents.

Education and Early Career

High School 

Brock started his education in his home town Fort Worth, Texas. For High school education, he joined Stephenville High School and graduated from there in 2006.

He batted at just .227 in his freshman year, but he made the All-District 8-4A Baseball team. Also, she shared the award for the newcomer of the year.

Holt won Defensive player of the year in the 6-4A district in 2005. In his senior year at the High School, his excellent performance got him all-district honors.

College Career

Following his graduation from Stephenville High School, he joined Navarro College in 2007. Brock kept performing on the same level and won various awards during his time in college.

After two years at Navarro College, he moved to Rice University. He played 59 games for Rice Owls, batting at an average of .348 with 43 runs batted in and 12 home runs.

Brock Holt | Professional Career

Pittsburgh Pirates picked up Holt in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft in the club’s ninth-round selection.

Minor Leagues

The first club of Holt’s professional career is the State College Spikes, a Class-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ short season.

After playing with Spikes for some time, he started playing with the Bradenton Marauders in 2010.

Unfortunately, he had to do surgery due to an injury to his medial collateral ligament. After that, he returned with Altoona Curve, Pittsburgh’s double-A affiliate, in 2011.

He also played for Triple-A Indianapolis, Indiana, for some time. In 24 games, Brock batted at an average of .342 with Indianapolis. Likewise, in 102 games, he had hit at an average of .322 with Altoona.

Pittsburgh Pirates

On September 1, 2012, Brock made his debut in Major League Baseball (MLB). He started his career at Pirates with some sensational performances.

Holt had a four-hit game to become the second Pirates player ever to achieve that feat in his first four games.

In his first MLB season, he played 24 games and batted at .292 with 3 RBIs and a triple.

Boston Red Sox

First Career Championship

In December 2012, Holt completed his move to Boston Red Sox along with his teammate Joel Hanrahan.

Although, he had to wait until July 6 to make his Red Sox debut. Red Sox won the 2013 World Series, but Brock didn’t play in the playoffs.

In 2014, Holt got named into the team following the injury to Will Middlebrooks. Holt strikes his first MLB home run on May 31 against Tampa Bay Rays. In 2014, he played at each position other than pitcher and catcher.

On June 16, 2015, he became the first Red Sox player in 19 years to complete a double, single, hit a home run, and finish it with a triple.

Holt won his first World Series Championship with Red Sox in 2015. He showed his versatility once again in that season.

Out of 129 games, he played defensively; he started 58 at second base, 35 in the outfield, 33 at the third base, 11 at shortstop, 8 in the first base, and one game as the designated hitter.

On 15 May 2016, crew chief and home plate umpire Joe West ejected Holt for the first time in his career. Four days later, Holt suffered a concussion and was named on the unfit player’s list.

However, he made his return to the game on August 24. Holt finished the season with a batting average of .255, 34 RBIs, and 7 home runs in 94 games.

2017 & Second Career Championship

In 2017, Holt was forced out of play due to a concussion. In total, he played 64 games, batting at .200 and with 7 RBIs.

Holt’s pinch-hit, three-run go-ahead home run helped Red Sox beat Toronto Blue Jays by 7-2. That win made Red Sox the first team to seal a postseason berth in 2018.

Further, Holt hit for the cycle against New York Yankees. In a 16-1 rout in American League Division Series 2018.

That made him the first player in MLB history to do that in a post-season match. In the end, Brock Holt helped Red Sox to win Second Career Championship.

In 2019, Holt played 87 games but had a difficult season due to various injuries. He left Boston Red Sox as a free agent at the end of the year.

Milwaukee Brewers

On February 19, 2020, Holt agreed to join Milwaukee Brewers on a one-year deal. He had quite a good time with Milwaukee, but he left the club after six months due to various reasons.

Washington Nationals

Washington Nationals signed Holt from Milwaukee on August 29, 2020. He played a total of  20 games for the Nationals, hitting .262/.314/.354 in 65 at-bats.
