Steve Tasker, an American sports reporter and former National Football League wide receiver, has been married to Sarah Tasker since 1986, and they have 5 children.

The married couple has been involved in community events, including the Ride for Roswell, which was in memory of Sarah’s father.

NFL legend Steve Tasker was forced to deny vicious online rumors this week that claimed he had passed away.

The false report surfaced on Thanksgiving Day on a Facebook page, stating that the former Buffalo Bills wide receiver had died at the age of 62.

However, fans quickly noticed several errors in the post, including listing his birth year incorrectly and getting his current age wrong. Tasker is 63.

Just hours later, the Hall of Fame special teams player took to social media himself to set the record straight. He shared a screenshot of the fake news on X and bluntly wrote, “I’m fine.

Tasker is a Buffalo Bills icon, having played 12 of his 13 NFL seasons with the team. He was selected to seven Pro Bowls and was named a first-team All-Pro five times.

Steve Tasker Rides for Roswell to Honor His Father-in-Law

The 2024 Ride for Roswell brought together thousands of cyclists to raise millions for Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Among the many teams was one with a very familiar face to Western New York: Buffalo Bills legend Steve Tasker.

The Ride for Roswell was deeply personal for Tasker and his family.

On March 19, his wife, Sarah, lost her father, Lanny, to a battle with cancer. He was 73.

When Lanny was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma in Kansas, he and his wife moved to Buffalo to receive treatment at Roswell Park.

One of my dad’s greatest desire was that his struggle would help someone else’s be easier or maybe not even happen.

Reflecting on the care his father-in-law received, Tasker said he couldn’t have asked for a better team of doctors, nurses, and staff. It was this profound experience that inspired him to form their own riding team.

They rode to raise money, to give back, and most importantly, to ride in memory of Lanny.

When you go out there to the ride, and you see thousands of people riding from 3 years old to 83 years old, riding bikes with family and friends, they’re all there for a reason because somehow they’ve all been touched by cancer. And that’s pretty moving.
