Cara is from a Sports loving family background. In fact, she first got into sports at three when she joined the Los Angeles Dodgers fan club called “Blue Crews.”

Further, she attended AFC Championship Game 1984 at the Memorial Coliseum to support Los Angeles Raiders.

It was her parents who brought her into Sports at such a young age. But once she got into college, she got even more into it.

During her college years, she traveled to Tucson to watch her favorite team Arizona Wildcats play.

However, her main interest during that time wasn’t Sports; it was math and Science.

Her main desire was to become a Veterinary Doctor until that unfortunate event in the high school assembly.

She realized that veterinary medicine wasn’t for her when she fainted after seeing blood during that assembly.

Despite that realization, her squeamish behavior didn’t let her quit her pursuing further education in Science.

Early Career

Cara left the University of California, LA, to chase her other dreams. She started her career on television at KCOP-TV/UPN-13 and served as a sports producer.

Further, she hosted a weekly talk show about Sports in Los Angeles. After that, she served as a production assistant/tape engineer for Fox Broadcasting.

She continued making connections in the industry. Then, she left Fox to join KCTZ-TV (an ex-partner of Montana Television Network) as a sports director.

Cara worked for another MTN member, KPAX-TV as a sideline reporter, analyst, and play-by-play commentator of men’s and women’s college athletics.

Before landing a job at ESPN, her final contract was with KRIS-TV, where she worked as a reporter and weekend sports anchor.

Cara Capuano joined ESPN in June 2000 as an ESPNEWS anchor. On her first spell at ESPN, she spent four years.

Mainly, she was a news anchor, but over the years, her role in ESPN increased. Besides that, she worked as a play-by-play commentator, especially for women’s college basketball.

Occasionally, she also worked as an anchor for ESPN’s SportsCenter, a fill-in host for various ESPN radio staples during GameDay and GameNight.

Cappy returned to ESPN in 2009, taking multiple roles on her back. She started her work as a Studio host for SEC Weekly on ESPNU.

 Besides that, she took responsibility for the College football games of SEC Networks. Moreover, she contributed to SEC Network as a play-by-play announcer for college basketball games.

Once again, she left ESPN in 2016 to go to Spain. She got back into her beloved job once she got back to the US after nine months.

Further, she added a sideline reporter to the list of her works during that same time. She covered Seahawks for Washington and Oregon State as a sideline reporter.

Besides that, she also reported Super Bowl XL, NBA playoffs, Volleyball, and WNBA playoffs.

Cultural Ambassador

In September 2016, she announced on Twitter that she was moving to Spain. She was appointed as a cultural ambassador of the North American language and cultural assistant in Spain.

Due to her bilingual talent, she worked in Spanish & English language schools in Spain.

Cara dedicated a huge part of her life to sports, but in 2019, she reduced her time with basketball and volleyball to join the Charlotte family housing.
