Madison and Jackson, Mississippi, communities are mourning the untimely death of beloved native and former athlete, Dylan Desper.
According to his loved ones, Dylan Desper was involved in an accident and sustained injuries.
He was hospitalized but succumbed to his injuries the next day, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.
Born in 1998 in Madison, Wisconsin, Dylan Desper touched the lives of many with his exceptional athletic skills and his kind and cheerful nature.
Dylan Desper began his athletic career at Madison Central High School, playing for the boys’ varsity football team and leading his team in several victories. He graduated in 2016.
He further continued his football career, attending Jones County Community College, where, wearing #75 and standing 6’4”, Dylan played as an offensive lineman for the men’s football team Bobcats.
Dylan helped Jones County average 41.4 points per game, good for 7th in the nation. Additionally, he was a MACJC Academic All-State Honoree, All-MACJC Second Team.
Similarly, Dylan Desper went on to become a standout football player at the University of Central Arkansas, from which he earned his B.S. in health education in 2020.
During his freshman year, Dylan appeared in 10 games with nine starts in the offensive line and helped the Bears’ offense average 30.5 points and 407.2 yards per game in 2018.
He was also a member of the 2019 Southland Championship Team.

Dylan Desper is survived by his loving fiancé, Makenzie Pickering, his parents, Chris and Tom, his brother, Devin, his sister, Summer, their children, and the entire family.
His loving partner, Makenzie Pickering, who he was going to marry in October, took to her social media to express her sorrow and pay tribute to Dylan Desper, and wrote:
“My sweet, precious Dylan. I don’t even have the words right now. My heart is completely broken. Dylan was so loved by so many people. He had the most tender, giving heart. He made every single person he encountered feel truly loved and seen, and I think that was my favorite quality about him. He truly was the best person I know”

The family has organized a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 12 PM at Dylan’s parents’ home at 1800 Fairchilds Road, Raymond, Mississippi.
Dylan’s contribution to the sports community and his kind nature will always be remembered.
