Chase Burns, a collegiate baseball pitcher, grew up in a family of sports lovers. He is the youngest of two kids of his parents: David and Trinetti Burns, who were instrumental in his athletic pursuits.
The Tennessee alumnus is the only one pursuing baseball in the family- his father is a former college football player, while his sister played basketball.
But it won’t keep their enthusiasm off from seeing Chase with baseball pitches at the Tennessee Volunteers.
On June 19, 2023, in the first round of the 2023 Men’s College World Series, he pitched six scoreless innings. It advanced the Volunteers to the second round knocking out Stanford with a 6-4 win.
The baseball potential in Burns is a story since his early days that would see a shape after he enrolled at Station Camp High School.
In his senior year in 2021, he transferred to Beech Senior High School & made 0.50 ERA and 131 strikeouts in 56.1 innings pitched.
Even though Chase was the 20th-round pick of the San Diego Padres in the 2021 MLB draft, he opted to attend college instead.
He enrolled at the University of Tennessee in 2022 & concluded his freshman year with an 8-2 record, 2.91 ERA & taking 103 strikeouts from 80.1 innings.
It earned him the Freshman Pitcher of the Year honor.
The Tennessee Volunteers have produced MLB figures like Nick Senzel, Christin Stewart, Drew Steckenrider, Andrew Toles & many more.
