Hamhuis underwent his career with Prince George Cougars. He made his junior debut in 1998–99.

The club was about to witness the magnitude of a trail-blazing player. Dan started by bagging both club’s rookie and scholastic player of the year.

Hamhuis kept on improving, and the following season, he improved his performance five times more.

The fantastic gameplay helped Prince George progress to the Finals. Daniel also received the Cougars’ scholastic player of the year for the second time in a row.

Next season, the team made him the captain. NHL Central Scouting Bureau awarded him as the second-best North American prospect overall and the top defenseman in that duration.

Due to his hard work, the 2001 NHL Entry Draft selected him in the 12th overall pick. Daniel was the second defenseman nominated this way in the Nashville Predators.

After that, Hamhuis went up to join Nashville predators. In a game season, he was suspended for three games due to an infraction.

Dan joined NHL in the next season and scored his foremost goal in 2003; it became a game-winner power play.

Likewise, Hamhuis got the 2004 NHL YoungStars game award. Also, he assisted the Predators to win their first Stanley Cup in the franchise history.

Dan underwent a broken tibia during his junior draft-eligible season, restraining his experience to WHL scouts. Subsequently, he didn’t get his selection in the WHL Bantam Draft.

He later confessed that he wasn’t even aware of the junior draft till some months far along.

In the 2010–11 season, Daniel suffered another injury. He bruised his foot while stopping a shot during a competition contrary to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Sadly, this caused him to miss all eight games in that season.

After that, Hamhuis also suffered from main injuries in two of his closing seasons with Vancouver.
