The Oklahoma City Thunder power forward was one of many NBA players who played in the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Bertans, representing Latvia. had his nation recently knocked out by Germany in the quarterfinals.

Before being knocked out by Germany, not many believed Latvia would make it that far. The German National Team will next face Brandon Ingram and Mikal Bridges in the semifinals.

Davis Bertans Wife, Anna Sonka

Davis Bertans’ wife, Anna Sonka, is a former collegiate basketball player. Like her husband, Anna hails from Latvia and came to the US for higher studies.

Standing at 6 feet, it made sense for the Latvian to pursue basketball as her sports career. She was known for her three-point shooting and had represented her country at the  2009 U18 European Women’s Championship in Sweden.

Anna first joined Cowley County Community College in Kansas before transferring to the University of Toledo. At Toledo, Anna played the 2010-11 season, appearing in 12 games for the team that won the 2011 WNIT Championship.

The couple has tried to keep their lives away from the limelight. The Oklahoma City Thunder player has only shared three posts related to Anna on his Instagram. His better half has also kept herself out of the spotlight by keeping her account private.

The couple went Instagram official in 2016, with Davis sharing the photo of the couple with their pet dog on Christmas. A few months later, we saw the couple again with their pet dog, Rocky, in their car, with Davis sharing the post on National Pet Day.

Davis and Anna tied the knot in 2017 but didn’t state when or where. The NBA player shared a picture of them enjoying a date in their wedding fits in the middle of the lake on August 1, 2017.

A year after their wedding, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, Mila, in December 2018. He previously shared a couple of pictures of his daughter after her birth but has since removed those pictures.

Davis Bertans Family

Davis Bertans’ family had no history with sports before his older brother, Dairis Bertans, decided to pursue it.

The Bertans brothers’ parents, Dina Bertane and Dainis Bertans, raised the two boys in Valmiera, Latvia. Despite, their son’s success in the NBA, the couple has chosen to continue to live in their home nation.

Unlike Davis, his older brother Dairis Bertans didn’t have much luck in the NBA. Dairis Bertans started playing professionally in 2004 for Valmiera Lacplesa Alus, a Latvian basketball team.

He then joined the Spanish team Dominion Bilbao Basket in 2013 and played three seasons with them before playing in Italy and Turkey. The NBA side New Orleans Pelicans signed Dairis in 2019, but the Latvian failed to make any impact, playing only 12 games.

Davis had previously talked about this family last year in an interview with Sky Sports. He said his family was safe despite sharing borders with Russia, which was invading Ukraine.

The two brothers recently represented their country in the FIBA Basketball World Cup and had a fairytale run, reaching the quarterfinals before being knocked out by Germany.
