The Leicester, Leicestershire-born basketball player Nikola Jović plays for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). 

The 22-year-old young athlete previously played for Mega Basket, a youth system. At the 2020-21 Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament, he averaged 29.3 points and 10.3 rebounds, winning the MVP award.

In February 2021, Nikola debuted for Mega Basket before playing his first ABA league game.

During his ABA league career, he secured multiple victories and titles, including the 2022 Top Prospect title. Before making his NBA debut, he even played for the Serbia U19 national basketball team.

Later, Miami Heat drafted him as the 27th overall pickup in the 2022 NBA Draft. On July 2, 2022, he officially signed a multi-year rookie scale contract with the Heat, beginning his NBA journey.

Jovic even holds an endorsement deal with Adidas, adding to his wealth. 

Injuries

Throughout his career, Nikola Jović has endured several injuries causing him to miss numerous games.

On April 4, 2022, he suffered a knee injury, and the team sidelined him for the rest of the match.

During his rookie season, he mostly suffered from back and foot injuries that derailed his performance. In 2022, he experienced a back injury twice.

Moreover, in January 2023, he was again diagnosed with a lower back stress reaction. Nikola remained sidelined for at least four weeks.

Despite the injuries, he is succeeding in his career and scoring good points for the team.
