Ed Reed Wife: The legendary head coach has a son, but the identity of his son’s mother remains undisclosed. It is unclear whether Ed is currently dating or married.
The American former professional football player has earned the Hall of Fame title, solidifying his name in the NFL world.
Throughout his two-decade career, Ed has consistently kept his family life private.
Edward Earl Reed Jr. was born to Edward Reed Sr. and Karen Reed in St. Rose, St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, US, on September 11, 1978.
Growing up in an extremely poor family, Ed lived in a one-room apartment with his four brothers and parents.
The main source of motivation for the Hall of Fame was to play beyond college football and elevate his family from their state of poverty.
In high school, he earned all-state recognition as a defensive back and kick returner. He also secured the title of the New Orleans Times-Picayune District Most Valuable Defensive Player.
Later, he attended the University of Miami, earning an athletic scholarship, before making his debut with the Baltimore Ravens in the 2002 NFL.
Similarly, the XLVII Super Bowl champion set numerous records playing for teams, including the Ravens, Houston Texans, and New York Jets, throughout his entire NFL career.
After his professional playing career, he served as a coach and administrator for the Buffalo Bills, Miami, and Bethune Cookman.
Does Ed Reed Have A Wife? Or Is He Dating?
Ed Reed has guarded the privacy of his personal life regarding his dating choices. This led many to believe he isn’t married.
However, everyone is well aware of his son, Edward Reed. But there are rumors circulating about him also having a daughter.
Moreover, in an interview, the former Bills assistant defensive backs coach mentioned about Edward’s mother.
His son, Edward, is a 16-year-old boy and a fan of the New England Patriots, one of the Bills’ AFC East rivals.
During the discussion of his son being a Patriots fan, he stated, “His mom is from Boston, though she’s not a Patriots fan.”
This suggests that Ed may be married or in a relationship with someone.
Likewise, reports suggest that Ed’s son Edward, now a middle school student, plays and follows golf.
Ed’s Brother’s Death: What Happened?
In 2011, when the player was set to participate in another Super Bowl event, he was grieving the loss of a younger brother in a tragedy.
Huge shock swept through everyone when officials pulled the lifeless body of his brother, Brian Reed, out of the Mississippi River.
Authorities interrogated the family of the deceased regarding the incident.
Ed’s family explained that Brian had taken Edwin’s car early in the morning without permission.
When the family reported Brian’s absence to the police, they succeeded in catching up with him.
However, he freed himself, ran away, and went straight into the Mississippi before the police could apprehend him.
They concluded that Brian was suffering from some mental issues, which led him to take such a step.
A 25 Days Coach: The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats
On December 27, 2022, Reed accepted the new head coach position for the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats football team.
However, after coaching for 25 days, the Wildcats fired Reed from the position of head coach.
Following this, Reed expressed his sadness via a tweet. The tweet explained how he and the University could not come to terms.
“Bethune-Cookman University has been working with my legal team to craft contract terms with the language and resources we knew were needed to build a successful football program,” the statement read.
He further emphasized that he did not just want to coach football but wanted to be an agent of change.
After weeks of negotiations, Reed was informed about their inability to ratify his contract.
