Professional Career- MLB Career

It is no secret that Erik Kratz has earned fame and success along his way as a baseball player. Looking back at it, he has always loved and played baseball. His early record has to be from his days in high school.

Then he moved to college and played college baseball for the Eastern Mennonite Royals. His senior year record .507/.560/.990 in batting, with 25 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, and 59 runs batted in RBI. Also, Kratz broke the NCAA Division III record for doubles in a career.

Likewise, Erik was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the year twice. Thanks to his athleticism, Toronto Blue Jays picked Kratz in the 29th round, the 866th overall pick, in the 2002 MLB draft.

Moreover, Erik played the 2005 season with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Then in 2009, Kratz signed with the Pirates, who required a primary Triple-A catcher, replacing the injured Ryan Doumit.

As expected, Erik played the 2009 season with the Indianapolis Indians and finished batting .273/.337/.470, with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs. In the end, he was named an IL Mid-Season All-Star, Il Triple-A All-Star Game Top Star, and IL Post-Season All-Star. 

Kratz began his 2010 with Indianapolis as he finished his minor league season batting .274/.380/.496, with nine home runs and 41 RBIs. Finally, on July 17, Erik made his MLB debut against the Houston Astros. There he recorded his first MLB hit too.

Philadelphia Phillies and Baseball Season (2013-2015)

Erik played with the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2011 season and recorded .288/.372/.466 in batting, 15 home runs, and 53 RBI. On July 13, Kratz won his third International League Mid-Season All-Star Award. The following year, he joined the Lehigh Valley while still playing for the Phillies.

In 2013, he made his first MLB Opening Day roster with the Phillies. At the end of the year, Erik joined the Toronto Blue Jays after being traded for pitcher Brad Lincoln.

Similarly, on March 30, Kratz joined the Triple-A on the disabled list. He played a total of six games for the Blues and, when recalled, played another 34 games. Erik ended the season with .198 batting, three home runs, and 10 RBIs.

Following his game with the Blues, Erik signed with the Kansas City Royals on July 28, 2014. He played for the team for a year and recorded .276/.290/.517 bats.
