Former St. John’s University Football Star and Longtime Professor Boz Bostrom, 52, Dies from Liver Complications; Survived by Wife Kacey and Two Children

Warren ‘Boz’ Bostrom, a St Joseph, Minnesota-based longtime professor and former collegiate football player, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at an untimely age of 52.

According to reports, Boz Bostrom’s untimely death followed liver failure. He had previously revealed his liver complications on social media.

Initially, Bostrom thought that he was suffering from a digestive or gallstone issue; however, later he was diagnosed with end-stage liver failure.

Boz Bostrom touched the lives of many with his decades-long career as an account and finance professor and his journey as a former athlete.

Bostrom attended Saint John’s University, where he played football for the men’s football team as an offensive guard and earned all-time leader honors during his athletic journey.

He graduated from SJU with a BA in accounting and a minor in Spanish in 1995 and further continued his education at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, earning his Master’s degree in Taxation in 2004.

From 2004 until his recent demise, Boz Bostrom served as a teacher of accounting and finance at the College of Saint Benedict and his alma mater, Saint John’s University, guiding thousands of students.

He became a full professor in 2020. Despite his deteriorating health, Bostrom continued to teach at CSB and SJU.

Just three weeks prior to his untimely death, Boz Bostrom took to his LinkedIn to share a post stating that he celebrated 10 years of sober living at nearly the same time he learned he would need a liver transplant soon to survive.

Boz further expressed his love for his wife, kids, and students, stating:

“In times like these, it becomes pretty clear what matters most; for me, that’s by far my wife and kids. Beyond that, it’s being in the classroom with my students. It’s what I was called to do; my smile is genuine. I’m in a very good place. I have so much to fight for.”

In addition to his career as a professor, Boz Bostrom also won the hearts of many as an author and wrote three books named “A Legacy Unrivaled”, “I Believe”, and “The New Start.”

Furthermore, the untimely passing of Boz Bostrom has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, students, and loved ones.

Many of his loved ones are paying tribute to Boz Bostrom and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

Boz Bostrom is Survived By His Longtime Wife, Kacey, Two Children, and the Entire Family

Boz Bostrom was not just an amazing former athlete and professor but also a great and devoted husband to his longtime wife, Kacey Regina Bostrom.

The couple were happily married for over 25 years and lived an adventurous life, travelling to different places.

In addition to being an amazing wife to the late Boz Bostrom, Kacey Bostrom is also excelling in her career as a student affairs professional.

Kacey earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in 2002 and her Master’s degree in College Counseling and Student Development from St. Cloud State University in 2021.

Furthermore, Kacey began her career as a student development and conduct specialist at her alma mater, St. Cloud State University.

After serving in her position for two years, she was promoted to the Interim Student Services Coordinator of Nursing Program at St. Cloud, a position she has held since 2022.

Simultaneously, Kacey serves as advisor and student success coach, supporting students in their academic journey.

Late Boz Bostrom and his wife, Kacey, also raised their two children, son Wyatt and daughter Sofia, to be successful in their respective careers.

Their son, Wyatt, followed in his father’s footsteps in sports and is the director at the local karate dojo.

Wyatt Bostrom graduated from Saint John’s Preparatory School and earned his degree in sports and exercise science from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. He currently serves as a teacher at St. Cloud and Sartell National Karate.

In addition to his wife and kids, Boz Bostrom is survived by his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the entire family.

His indefinable contribution to the Minnesota community will always be remembered. Boz’s family has yet to provide details about his funeral and memorial services.
