Johnson played for the Tennessee Volunteers from 2017 to 2020, appearing in 40 games and earning nine starts before transferring to the University of Miami for his final year of eligibility.

During his time with the Vols, he recorded 58 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks, establishing himself as a steady defensive presence.

After college, he went on to compete professionally, spending time with the Houston Roughnecks during the 2023 XFL season and later joining the Birmingham Stallions.
