The next sport was football, which was taking over his passion. Yes, he football for a couple of years, but things had to fall into place.

Jaden enjoyed basketball more than anything else in the eighth grade. Well, we will be discussing his family members in brief.

Family Circle

Jaden’s father and two older brothers extensively checked his athleticism. They nailed with their heights above 6’7″ or taller. Jaden is 6’4”.

Gray Springer, his father, was recruited to Lona by the late Jim Valvano. He was the player who got every rebound, as in the fourth all-time leading scorer and third all-time leading rebounder.

Also, Gary was hired in the sixth round of the 1984 NBA draft but could not play officially due to a severe knee injury.

Before that, Gary spent most of his days in Harlem and played on one of the greatest New York City basketball teams ever at Benjamin Franklin High School.

Jaden’s older brother, Gary Springer Jr., was also recruited to Lona, where he showed up against Tar Heels in 2008.

And his second oldest brother, Jordan Springer, showed up at the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He has also been placed on  North Carolina’s watch list since this past summer.

High School & College Career

Springer played varsity basketball for Lighthouse Christian School in Antioch, Tennessee as an eighth-grade student. He could notch a team-high 19 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

He opted to play the first two years of high school for  Rocky River High School in Mint Hill, North Carolina.

It was also heard that despite some academic and disciplinary concerns, head basketball coach Jermaine Walker dragged him there.

To speak of his scorings, as a freshman, Jaden notched 21.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and five assists per game, leading his school team to its first state tournament appearance.

For the following year, as a sophomore, he notched 24.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 2.4 blocks per game, leading his team to reach the Class 4A state semifinals.

Not only that, but Jaden was also titled Southwestern 4A Player of the Year. He switched his high school to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, for the rest of the high school season.

He became part of the country’s best teams and teammates with top recruits Armando Bacot, Josh Green, and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.

To count on his junior year scorings, Jaden grabbed 15.6 points, four rebounds, and four assists, leading his team to win  GEICO High School Nationals. He led his team to win over Montverde Academy.

Furthermore, in his senior season, Jaden grabbed 17.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game for IMG. He played throughout the season despite suffering an ankle injury and was removed from some games.

Jaden was invited to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Let’s bring this up, but Jaden received a five-star rating from Rivals, 247 Sports, and ESPN. As a freshman in high school, Jaden started receiving scholarship offers from NCAA Division I basketball programs.

Jaden had scholarship opportunities from North Carolina, Memphis, Florida, and Michigan alongside Tennessee, but he chose Tennessee.

It is a different fact that Jaden, one of the topmost players of the class of 2020, was a true fan of North Carolina. And yes, at the same time, he had a strong feeling about Memphis and its playing games for now.

And about Michigans, Jaden felt like it was one of the new schools to reach out to him. But the head coach Juwan Howard’s NBA connection intrigued him.

He started making the most official visit to Tennessee and eventually signed with the team.

Jaden Springer Will Be Back Against Arkansas

Tennessee’s fans were appalled and worried when their shooting guard, Jaden Springer, left midway after suffering from a left ankle injury.

Despite trying to return, the freshman couldn’t continue the game as he checked himself out.

However, the fans could breathe as the head coach Rick Barnes said, “He will be back!” Yes, folks, Springer will be back on the court on Wednesday night against Arkansas. In an interview, the coach also reassured me that Springer’s injury is not much to worry about.

“Springer didn’t work out (on Monday), but he was on the floor (Tuesday) and did pretty much what everybody else did. He’ll be back. He practiced today.”

Just a freshman, Jaden has a particular spot reserved on the team. He is the team’s best shooter, and Rick emphasized his importance to the team.

“It’s important. The team played the game the other day without two guys that we count on quite a bit. I still think we’re good enough to handle what goes on, but we didn’t.”

  • His father’s career must have enriched and benefitted him in many ways. Jaden’s parents feel blessed to see him growing and molding as a player and human. It’s a blessing, they say.
