Jeff Teague’s brother, Marquis Teague, played for the Chicago Bulls in his rookie season in the NBA. Jeff shares an age gap of five years with Marquis.
The high school and college basketball courts might’ve seen many brothers play together, but brothers playing on the NBA court is not an everyday occurrence.
The Teague brothers are lucky that they were able to do so. Coming from a basketball background, Jeff and Marquis followed their father’s footsteps.
But unlike his brother and dad, Jeff can show off his NBA ring, which he won with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee Bucks’ teammates in his final season in 2021.
Earlier this year, Jeff decided to step away from the scouting role with the Atlanta Hawks and became the basketball coach for Pike High School, from where he graduated in 2007.
Jeff Teague Brother, Marquis Teague
Jeff Teague’s brother, Marquis Teague, played for three NBA teams. Marquis is five years younger than his older brother.
The two brothers also have another couple of siblings who have kept themselves away from the public limelight. In most sibling stories, you would probably hear the athletes recall the time they played the sport with their siblings.
But that’s not the case in the case of the Teague brothers. Growing up, if Jeff was interested in basketball, then Marquis loved playing football.
In his interview with Sports Illustrated, Jeff said he cannot remember ever playing one-on-one with his brother. Marquis was a late bloomer, and their father, Shawn, pushed him to play basketball.
After Marquis signed with Chicago Bulls in 2012, Jeff implied it was a match made in heaven. Jeff said he was happy that his brother went to a team with hard workers.
In the NBA, Marquis didn’t have much luck and last played for Memphis Grizzlies in the 2017 season after a successful season in the G-League for Memphis Hustle.
Along with Grizzlies and Bulls, Marquis played for Brooklyn Nets and played 91 games in total in the league averaging 2.38 points, 1 rebound, and 1.5 assists.
Marquis last played for the Greek basketball team Kolossos Rodou in the 2022 season. Marquis is available on Instagram with the username @marquisteague12 but has kept his handle private.
In 2013, the two brothers established the Team Teague Foundation (TTF) to provide opportunities for America’s youth to meet their full potential on and off the court.
Jeff Teague Parents, Shawn, And Carol Teague
Jeff Teague’s parents, Shawn and Carol, raised four kids in Indiana.
Though he was never drafted in the NBA, Jeff’s father, Shawn Teague, also had a collegiate basketball career. Shawn first played basketball at the University of Missouri and transferred to Boston University after a year.
Shawn did try out with the Pacers and Warriors, but nothing fruitful came from it. Instead, he decided to live his dreams through his sons.
At Boston, Shawn played under the legendary basketball coach Rick Pitino and was teammates with Kyrie Irving’s dad, Drederick Irving.
When it came to teaching his sons to play basketball, Shawn made them face players much older than them. He would take his sons to adult leagues in Indianapolis and pit them against 35-year-old men.
Shawn works at HealthPRO/Heritage and is also the President of the Team Teague Foundation. On his Facebook handle, Shawn has previously shared glimpses of the basketball tournament held by the TTF Foundation.
Jeff’s mother, Carol Teague, is the CFO of the TTF Foundation, but unlike her husband, Carol has maintained privacy on social media.
