Giannis is one of five brothers born to their late father, former Nigerian footballer Charles and former high jumper Veronica. She gave all of her five sons both Greek and Nigerian names.

Francis also competed in the club’s senior men’s team in Greece’s semi-pro level of the 3rd tier league.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo: Gianni’s 2nd Eldest Brother    

Thanasis, full name Athanasios Rotimi Antetokounmpo (July 18, 1992), is a Greek professional basketball player.

During the EuroBasket tournament in Helsinki, he got “The Elevator” by Greek basketball sportscaster Vangelis Ioannou and his younger brother Giannis.

Likewise, he plays for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He plays as tiny forward and powers forward positions.

Thanasis is the second oldest brother of the Antetokounmpo brothers. After moving to the US, his career meandered to the top.

Early Career

In 2008, Thanasis Antetokounmpo began playing youth club basketball with the junior teams of Filathlitikos.

Then, he played with the Filathlitikos senior men’s team in the Greek third division (2011-12 season) and semi-professional levels of the Greek fourth division (2010-11 season).

He also played four games for Filathlitikos in the Greek A2 League (2013-14 season). He recorded eight rebounds, 15 points, one steal, and one assist in a round 2 game against Ermis Lagkada in 2013. 

Professional Career 

On November 1, 2013, the Delaware 87ers picked Thanasis ninth in the 2013 NBA Development League Draft. 

In 2014, New York Knicks selected Thanasis with the 51st overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft. However, he joined the Westchester Knicks for the NBA Summer League 2014.

Again in July 2015, he rejoined the New York Knicks for the NBA Summer League 2015. Then, on August 8, 2016, Thanasis joined MoraBanc Andorra of the Liga ACB.

Later, in 2017, he signed a two-year deal with the Euro League Giants Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League.

Thanasis was also named the MVP of the Greek All-Star Game 2018.

He has a Nigerian passport provided to him in June 2013. Because of this, he was legally allowed to enter the USA. However, he became a full Greek citizen officially in 2016. 

Kostas is the youngest brother of Thanasis and Giannis and the older brother of Alex. He commenced playing basketball with the junior teams of Filathilitikos in Athens.

Early Career 

Antetokounmpo attended Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. He Played high school basketball during his junior and senior years.

In addition, during his senior, he led his team to a state championship. 

After completing school, Kostas moved to the University of Dayton to play college basketball. He played in the 2017-18 season, with 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 1.1 blocks per game, and 0.2 steals, in 15.1 minutes per game. 

Professional Career 

On March 22, 2018, Kostas announced the NBA draft 2018. He was one of a record-high 69 players to enter the NBA Draft Combine in 2018. 

Unfortunately, he was the last pick in the NBA Draft 2018. At first, he was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers, but they immediately exchanged to the Dallas Mavericks

Kostas debuted NBA on March 20, 2019, in a loss against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Mavericks released him on July 19, 2019.

Alex, full name Alexandros Emeka Antetokounmpo (27 August 2001) is a Greek professional basketball player for UCM Murcia of the Spanish Liga ACB. He plays the small forward position. 

Alex is the youngest of five Antetokounmpo brothers. Although he accomplished many achievements at an early age, he is still starting his career.
