Joe Washington Steps Down as Red Devils Coach

Joseph Washington III, aka Joe Washington, has resigned as the head football coach of the Jeffersonville High School Red Devils.

The school announced his departure on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, after he led the program for two seasons.

Joe’s tenure was a tale of two seasons.

He took over a struggling program in 2024 and engineered a dramatic turnaround. He led the previously winless team to a 6-4 record and the program’s first winning season since 2015.

However, the team regressed to a 4-6 record in the recently completed 2025 season. Joe leaves Jeffersonville with an overall record of 10 wins and 10 losses.

Furthermore, Athletic Director A.J. Moye and Principal Pam Hall have now begun the search for a replacement, who will be the program’s eighth head coach since 2009.

A.J. expressed gratitude for Joe’s service, passion, and love of the game.

We are looking forward to finding a coach who appreciates the values of Jeffersonville football, Jeffersonville High School, and the Jeff Community. It is vitally important that we select a coach of great character, discipline, and talent for guiding young men to maximize their potential on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
