He is the youngest son among three children of his parents. By birth, his name is James Taft ‘Jimmer’ Fredette. However, his mother Kay wanted to call him up with something unique, so she named him Jimmer.

Jimmer started his early career in basketball during his high school days. From high school to his professional career, he has made a remarkable career in basketball. In this section, we will be discussing his career activities from high school to the present day.

Early Career

As mentioned earlier, Jimmer was trained basketball by his brother during his kindergarten days. After that, he used to play with his brother and his friends in the backyard court.

Right after joining Glens Falls High School, he joined the school football team and started playing for the school basketball team.

After recording the highest score, he ranked 16th on New York’s all-time scoring list. He was also named the first-team all-state by the New York State Sportswriters Association and the Times Union as a junior and senior.

Upon successfully graduating from high school, Fredette joined Brigham Young University in 2007. He also joined the university basketball team and started playing for the team.

In the freshman season at that Brigham university, he captured the Mountain West Conference regular-season championship. Similarly, in the sophomore season at the university, he became BYU’s first point guard to earn first-team all-conference honors.

In his Junior year at the university, Fredette was able to win the first position in the NCAA tournaments.

During the senior season at the university, the basketball player was named the co-captain of his team. Not to mention, he was also the top-ranked point guard in the nation. Likewise, he also became the Mountain West Conference’s all-time leading scorer.

Professional Career

After a successful university career, he was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks but was later traded to Sacramento Kings.

He debuted with the Sacramento Kings team against the Golden State Warriors. Sadly the King ended the contract of Jimmer on February 27, 2014.

After ending the contract with the Kings, the professional basketball player joined the Chicago Bulls and played with the teams for the 2013-2014 season.

Fredette signed the contract with the New Orleans Pelicans on July 24, 2014. After playing with the San Antonio Spurs, he had his season-best game.

After a year with New Orleans Pelicans, he joined Spurs on July 22, 2015. Sadly he was waived by the Spurs on October 21, 2015.

Luckily, he was selected by the Westchester Knicks on October 31. However, he re-signed the contract with the New Orleans Pelicans on November 10, 2015, and started playing for the team.

The Pelicans ended the contract with the Jimmer on November 19, 2015. After that, Fredette joined the Westchester Knicks on November 28, 2015.

Playing for 3 months with the Pelicans, he signed a ten-day contract with the New York Knicks on February 22, 2016. 

After the Knicks, the basketball player re-joined the Return to Westchester on March 6, 2016. While playing with the team, he was also named as All-NBA D-League Second Team.

He joined the Shanghai Sharks on August 2, 2016. When playing for the Sharks for 2016-2017, he was named the CBA’s International Regular Season MVP.

Fredette signed the contract with the Phoenix Suns on March 22, 2019, and started playing for the team.

Later on, he signed with the Panathinaiko on June 15, 2019. After that, he returned to the Shanghai Sharks on September 6, 2020.
