Kirk Cousins Curse Wikipedia: Among famous sports conspiracy theories, the Kirk Cousins curse is one of the most fabled and feared curses in recent NFL history.

The Minnesota Viking QB Kirk Cousins seemingly possesses the power to decide who makes the Super Bowl every year.

This stems from a repeating pattern that has happened without fail since his debut in the 2012 season.

Kirk Cousins, QB for the Minnesota Vikings, started his NFL career in 2012 at Washington.

After excellent performances at Michigan State, he was picked in the 4th round of the draft. In 2018, he moved to the Vikings and has been their starting QB ever since.

Kirk Cousins Curse Wikipedia

The Kirk Cousins Curse is simple, based on the fact that no team has lost to Kirk Cousins and appeared in the Super Bowl the same year.

Originating in the 2012 season, the trend has consistently proven accurate in subsequent seasons.

Subsequently, according to this curse, the Detroit Lions are odds-on to make it to the Super Bowl. Consequently, the San Francisco 49ers lost to Kirk’s Vikings in the October 23 NFL game.

However, this is just a light-hearted internet fan observation and theory. Although, it is impressive that it is still holding for more than ten years.

NFL theorists and fans wait with bated breath for the conference championship game between the 49ers and Lions.

Although the 49ers are the seeding favorite, the Lions have the validation of the dreaded Kirk Cousins Curse.

Origin And History

As aforementioned, this curse has its origin story back from the 2012-13 season.

Cousins won his first game as a starter in Week 14, beating the Cleveland Browns. The Cousins Curse had begun, as the Browns didn’t make it to the Super Bowl.

In 2013-14, he started three games and lost all of them. However, it’s worth noting that none of those losses were against the Super Bowl contenders Seattle and Denver.

Subsequently, in the 2014-15 season, he played five games, winning only one against the Tennessee Titans. The Titans didn’t make the Super Bowl that year.

The curse reached new heights in 2015-16, as this was the first season Kirk became a starting QB. Leading his team to nine wins, none of his victims made it to the big game.

A similar fate followed for the eight teams that lost to Kirk Cousins in 2016-17.

In the following season, 2017-18, he secured victories in seven out of 16 starts, defeating the Rams, Raiders, 49ers, Seahawks, Giants, Cardinals, and Broncos. This maintains a flawless record against teams affected by the curse.

By this time, fans started to get wind of the pattern, and the ‘Kirk Cousins Curse’, started trending in the NFL world.

Subsequently, he would beat eight teams in the 2018–19 season. None of those teams made it to the Super Bowl.

Following this, the fate of Cousins’ 10,7, 8, and 12 victims in the subsequent four NFL seasons was sealed after they lost to him.

In the course of Cousins’ career, he has encountered either one or both teams that eventually reached the Super Bowl in a given season on ten occasions, losing all ten of those games.

All in all, it is one of the craziest curses in sports, which has held the fort for more than a decade.
