His father, Louis King, Sr, is a retired firefighter who worked as then-captain of the Jersey City Fire Department, whereas his mother, Ativea King, studied at Henry Snyder High School.

High School & Collegiate Basketball

Louis King attended his first year at Roselle Catholic High School.

As a sophomore, he went to Pope John XXIII Regional High School before transferring to Hudson Catholic Regional High School in the mid-year.

King averaged 13.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in his junior season and led Hudson Catholic to a 26-4 record in his junior year.

He suffered a knee injury in January as he landed awkwardly after a dunk in his senior year. 

King was unfortunate to join the 2018 Nike Hoop Summit because of the injury.

For his collegiate career, he joined Oregon Ducks & played only one season (freshman year), averaging 13.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

The Pac-12 All-Freshman Team then declared for the 2019 NBA Draft.

King became one of the third one-and-done basketball players between 2018 and 2019, joining Troy Brown and Bol Bol.

After being undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, he signed with Detriot Pistons for the NBA Summer League.

The Pistons would later sign him on a short-lived two-way contract for two times, launching him in a total of 10 NBA games.

Even though he saw a two-way offer from New York Knicks in mid-December 2020, he was waived a day later.

Subsequently, he was re-assigned to the Knicks’ G-league team Westchester Knicks to spend the entire 2020 season & a majority of the 2021 season.

On April 30, 2021, Louis agreed on a two-way contract for two years with Sacramento Kings.

With the Kings, the NBA player made his NBA career-high of 27 points in a narrow loss of 106-107 on May 14, 2021.

In the 2022-23 season, he played initially for RGV Vipers and then with Delaware Blue Coats after signing a two-way deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
