Additionally, they adopted two children from Ukraine in 1999, Zach, born on May 15, 1996, and Anya, born on February 13, 1997, who has a rare disorder known as proteus syndrome.

In 2006, right before their 19th wedding anniversary, Katharyn was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Richt openly discussed his wife’s condition during a church service, and he addressed it once more at the Savannah Bulldog Club.
He mentioned that they were fortunate that the cancer was detected early due to regular checkups, and after undergoing treatment, Katharyn successfully recovered from her battle with cancer.
