He transferred to Louisiana State University after his sophomore season and led the team to the 2023 College World Series.

Additionally, he was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player.

Impressed by his performance, the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted him as the first overall pick of the 2023 MLB draft on July 9, 2023.

His elder sister, Lauren, graduated from California State Polytechnic University Pomona in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering.

Prior to that, she attended Irvine Valley College from August 2014 to June 2018, earning associate degrees in social and behavioral studies as well as liberal studies.

Laure began her career as a manufacturing engineering intern at Olea Kiosks in June 2021 and was promoted to the position of manufacturing engineer in January 2023. She has been working at the company ever since.

Paul’s younger sister, Kristen Skenes, is an aspiring volleyball player who currently attends Irvine Valley College. She finished her high school education at El Toro High in Lake Forest.

Standing at an impressive height of 6 feet, Kristen is currently in her freshman year and plays as a middle blocker (MB) for the Irvine Valley College volleyball team.

Paul Skenes Parents & Family Tree

Paul Skenes was born on May 29, 2002, in Fullerton, California, to parents Karen and Craig Skenes.

Both Craig and Karen are native Californians and work in the field of chemistry. However, Karen has chosen to adopt the role of a homemaker.

Paul’s father, Craig Skenes, currently holds the Head of Business Development position at Aerie Pharmaceuticals.

He graduated from California State University in 1996 with a degree in biochemistry, followed by an MBA in biochemistry from the same university in 1999.

Following his education, Craig worked as a director of business development at ISTA Pharmaceuticals for four years and four months, from December 2004 to March 2009.

He then served as the director of business development at Santen Incorporated from March 2009 until June 2014.

Since June 2014, he has been Vice President of Business Development at Aerie Pharmaceuticals.

In addition to his parents, Paul has uncles who have served in the military. His uncles Mike and Pete served in the Navy, while uncle Dan served in the Coast Guard.
