Archie Lapierre’s death marks the loss of a mentor and dedicated community servant.
For over six decades, Archie Lapierre dedicated his life to service, community, and country.
A proud member of American Legion Post 91 in Moosup, Connecticut, Archie was a pillar of the organization for more than 60 years.
His leadership was undeniable — he served six terms as Post Commander and held key positions such as Adjutant, Chaplain, and long-term Finance Officer.
Beyond administrative roles, Archie was the driving force behind many of the Post’s beloved events, including the monthly steak dinners and annual Lenten fish dinners, which brought the community together year after year.
Archie’s deep commitment extended to local youth and veterans.
He advised Troop 36, the Post 91 American Legion Baseball Team, and scholarship programs at Plainfield High School, Plainfield Central Middle School, and Sterling Intermediate School.
His dedication to honoring veterans was equally profound — for years, he served on the Military Funeral Honors Detail for Eastern Connecticut.
His contributions reached beyond the local level, with Archie serving as District 4 Executive Committeeman, District Sergeant at Arms, and Chairman of the State Fund Commission.
Nationally, he was a respected member of the National Americanism Council, leaving an impact that stretched far beyond Moosup.
