Ron Washington Kids: Son Ron Washington Jr With Wife Gerry

Many fans are wondering about Ron Washington kids and if his coaching abilities have also benefited them in their careers.

The Los Angeles Angels have selected Washington as their manager. It may come as a surprise but his own son is also a baseball player.  

Ronald Louis Washington was born on April 29, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has dedicated his life to baseball being a player, coach, and manager.

Washington started his professional baseball career after he was signed by the Kansas City Royals on July 17, 1970.

He then went on to play in the minor leagues playing for three different teams. Later, Washington decided to affiliate with the Mexican-Pacific League.

He was active in the LMP during the winters throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The Minnesota Twins embraced Washington’s return to the Major League in 1981. 

Washington hung up his glove from the MLB after appearing for the Houston Astros for one last time in 1981 July 7, 1989.

Washington spent five years in the New York Mets organization after retiring as a player. The Rangers announced on November 6, 2006, that Washington had accepted their offer to manage the team.

Who Are Ron Washington Kids? 

Ron Washington has three kids (Two sons and one daughter) with his wife Gerry Washington. 

Ron Washington Jr. and Robert are his two sons, while the name of his daughter is Emily. 

There is not a lot of information about Ron’s kids except Ron Jr. who has followed in the footsteps of his father. 

Ron Jr. has taken up the mantle of his father as a baseball player. He was born on March 13, 1999.

Ron Jr. played two seasons at Dulles High School and two seasons at Ridge Point High School in Missouri City, Texas.

He was a four-year varsity starter and showcased his skills on the field. In his final season at Dulles, Ron Jr. managed to earn a spot on the first-team All-District roster.

Junior was still high-rolling in his transition to Ridge Point as he was able to receive first-team All-District honours once again.

Junior then went on to the University of Pittsburgh where he majored in Communications. At the same time, he was also playing collegiate baseball for the Pittsburgh Panthers.

As per the MLB website, Ron Jr. was assigned to Mahoning Valley Scrappers on July 21, 2022.

He likes to keep in his own bubble as he already has an Instagram with a blue tick. But he has set it to private and holds only about 4k followers.

Ron Had Cheated On His Wife Gerry 

Even though Ron is in a happy and stable relationship with his wife Gerry right now, this has not always been the case. 

The couple who met in college had tied the knot on September 16, 1972, after dating for four years. 

But things changed in September of 2014 when Ron decided to get something heavy off of his chest by resigning as the manager of the Rangers.

He publicly addressed his abrupt resignation which happened on September 5 2014, expressing deep remorse for not being faithful to his wife of 42 years.

In a candid moment at a Dallas-area hotel, Ron bravely confronted a personal issue, openly acknowledging the profound embarrassment he felt. Reflecting on the incident, he attributed it to a “very low time” in his life, shedding light on the challenges he faced during that period. 

He refrained from divulging specific details about his transgression. Washington had informed Rangers GM Jon Daniels of his decision to step down due to personal reasons.

He further stressed that his departure was not related to drug use as opposed to the verdict of public opinion.
