A noted NFL figure himself, the Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is a fan of the NBA, MLB & NHL. In mid-May 2023, he was seen attending Game 1 of the NBA Conference Finals, where the Nuggets defeated the Lakers.
As the Denver Nuggets made their victory over the LA Lakers by 132-126, dominating the first three quarters, Wilson showed his praise for the game with applause.
In that game, the Nuggets’ center Nikola Jokić scored a triple-double with 34 points, 21 rebounds & 14 assists. It was the fourth 30-pointer & 20-pointer triple-double in the NBA playoffs history.
On the other side, Anthony Davis of the Lakers scored the game-high 40 points.
No denying that Wilson, who signed with the NFL team Denver Broncos, came into the town’s NBA flagship Nuggets’ support.
But also, the voices of cheers & applause in Denver had some taunts directed at the Broncos star after he had a terrible 2022-23 season in the NFL.
Russell Wilson Congratulated Nikola Jokic On A Single-Season Record
In the 2021-22 season, Nikola Jokic made NBA history as the first player to record 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 500 assists in a single season.
The milestone came after the 2014 NBA draft pick scored double-doubles with 35 points & 16 rebounds in a 122-109 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, on April 8, 2022.
Russell Wilson, who then played for the Seattle Seahawks, along with his wife, R&B singer Ciara, attended the history-making game.
Even the official Twitter page of the Denver Nuggets made a post dedicated to the ‘Speechless’ singer, & wrote,
“We cannot believe @ciara is actually at our game.”
Both Wilson & his spouse Ciara were seen giving a standing ovation to Nikola Jokic’s achievement.
After the game, the Ohio-born NFL star paid a visit to Jokic in the locker room & congratulated him.
