Racing genes run deep in Wallace’s family. It is not just Rusty Wallace, who has racing in his blood, but also his brothers, Kenny and Mike, who previously competed in NASCAR. 

Russell William “Rusty” Wallace Jr. is a former NASCAR racing driver. He was born in the United States on August 14, 1956.

He won the 1984 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year award and the 1989 NASCAR Winston Cup Championship.

Furthermore, Wallace has been inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame (2013), the International Motorsports Hall of Fame (2013), and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (2014).

It doesn’t stop there; he has also been inducted into the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame (2010) for his achievements throughout his illustrious career.

He seems to love anything that has an engine for a heart. Racing cars aside, the driver is also a motorcycle enthusiast. 

Rusty can also be spotted at various golf courses across the country. He shares a love for the sport with his enthusiasm for philanthropy as he channels that love toward charity. 

On Enjoy Illinois 300, he drove his famous car, “Midnight,” which he would like to refer to as “hot-rod.” The last time he was inside Midnight was back in 1997.

Maybe it’s in the genes because it seems like the Wallace family shares a deep love for motor racing. 

Rusty is the oldest one among the three siblings. His two brothers, Kenny and Mike, are both former race car drivers.

Michael Samuel Wallace, known as Mike Wallace, is the family’s middle child. He was born on March 10, 1959.

He most recently participated in the NASCAR Xfinity Series part-time while driving JD Motorsports’ No. 0 Chevrolet Camaro.

Mike is married to Carla Wallace, and their children, Chrissy Wallace and Matt Wallace, are active in racing.

Kenneth Lee Wallace, famous as Kenny Wallace, is Rusty’s youngest brother. He was born on August 23, 1963.

Kenny is an American former racing car driver and former Fox NASCAR reporter. He earned nine victories throughout a 25-year NASCAR career, all of which came in the Xfinity Series.

The youngest sibling is no longer competing in NASCAR, but he still enjoys racing on regional dirt tracks nationwide.

Kenny and his wife Kim reside outside St. Louis, Missouri, and have three daughters: Brooke, Brandy, and Brittany.

Rusty Enjoying His Retirement Life

Rusty retired after the 2005 season with a 14.4 career average finish and said the 2001 Daytona 500 crash that killed Dale Earnhardt Sr. influenced his decision.

Wallace began working as an ESPN and ABC Broadcaster after quitting the Cup Series in 2005. He remained with ESPN until the end of his contract in 2014.

In addition, Rusty has been a booth announcer for Motor Racing Network since 2015.

He also owns the ‘Signature Design Speedway racetrack in Iowa. The circuit hosted its maiden event in 2006 and has since hosted NASCAR Nationwide Series races.

Furthermore, Wallace has car dealerships up in Tennessee which he considers his essential business.

Rusty seems to enjoy his post-retirement life, as leisure time has enabled him to pursue his hobbies.

He and his wife are really enjoying their time together. Whenever free, they spend time cooking and playing with their dogs. 

Wallace used to think he was living the good life when he was competing in NASCAR Cup. Now, Wallace’s plate keeps getting fuller and fuller. Yet he wouldn’t want it any other way.

He believed that he was living the good life when he was competing. Now, his schedule is becoming increasingly full. However, he wouldn’t like it any other way.
