Sgt Slaughter and wife Karen Hennessy are proud parents of a lovely daughter named Kelly.
Kelly, also wanted to be a wrestler, and found herself a gimmick named “Slaughter-Daughter”.
With one of the most iconic ring names, Sgt. Slaughter is an instantly eye-catching American icon to both WWE fans and general pop culture lovers.
A former United States Marine who honorably served his nation, “Sarge” made his wrestling debut in 1974 in the American Wrestling Association (AWA).
He was a hard worker and even lucky back in those days. WWE Hall of Famer Verne Gagne then mentored Sarge.
Sarge was born on August 27, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, but was raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is currently a voice actor and an ambassador for the WWE program.
Six years after his professional debut, Remus combined his position as a US Marine Corps veteran and debuted in WWE in 1980.
He posed as the ruthless tormenting drill instructor, Sgt. Slaughter. The drill Sgt. also described his beaten opponents as scum, slime, and maggots.
Who Is Sgt Slaughter’s Wife Karen Hennessy?
The Sgt is married to his wife, Karen Hennessy, but this is not the first time he has tied himself to a marital bond.
Before Karen, Sgt. Slaughter had been married to Diane Kopp from 1970 to 1994.
However, the love life soon ended, sending the wrestler on a new route in his private life.
Despite the obstacles of a failed marriage, Sgt. Slaughter fell in love once more, albeit this time with Karen Hennessy.
Karen Hennessy has remained by Sgt. Slaughter through every trial and tribulation.
This proves to be a loving wife and an essential part of his support system.
Meet His Daughter Kelly
Karen and Sgt. together also have a daughter named Kelly. She, too, wanted to follow in the footsteps of her father.
Kelly has her podcast, “Slaughter Daughter,” where she brings out many guests, especially wrestlers.
She calls herself a stay-at-home taking care of her two children. Kelly does have a job at a local gym, but that’s just to get her out of the house.
But her mother didn’t like her father wrestling, so she was against Karen’selly belief that she could have been a fantastic wrestler.
She claims that wrestlers in the WWE were arm candies, and it was similar to catfighting. Kelly wanted to go and wrestle and kick boys’ asses.
Her gimmick would have been Slaughter-daughter, the badass bitch. She would have had fatigues and black boots like her dad.
The Story Behind His Gimmick
Sgt. Slaughter’s gimmick is that he is a former United States Marine who served in the Vietnam War. Remus never had any experience in the military.
He earned multiple draft deferments and actively opposed the war, frequently boycotting and protesting within the antiwar movement.
This has sparked debate because Remus has occasionally spoken about military duty while appearing to speak as himself rather than in a kayfabe character.
This has prompted allegations of weakness and stolen valor. Following WrestleMania VI, Slaughter wrote to Vince McMahon, expressing his love for the program and desire to return.
McMahon told Slaughter he needed a villain, and his new gimmick would be that Slaughter turned against the United States after it accepted the Russian Nikolai Volkoff.
According to Slaughter, it was difficult to conduct the anti-American promotions linked with this gimmick.
Fictionalized versions of Sgt. Slaughter appeared in the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toyline, anime series, and comic books as a member of the G.I. Joe team.
