Starling Javier Marte is a Dominican professional baseball who plays for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Besides the Mets, he has played for Pittsburgh Pirates, Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins, and Oakland Athletics.
The 35-year-old, born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, plays as a right-handed outfielder.
In addition, he experienced a difficult upbringing due to losing his mother at the tender age of 10. After that, his grandmother raised him.
Starling was married to Noelia Marte, and the pair welcomed three children; one daughter, Tiana Marte, and two sons, Starling Marte Jr. and Smerling.

Yunior is a professional baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of the MLB. He made his MLB debut with the San Francisco Giants in 2022.
However, his professional career started with Kansas City Royals at 17.

Addressing the similarities between the two athletes, Starling and Yunior are both fathers who devote a lot of time and affection to raising their kids.
Starling Marte: Turning Towards Baseball After Wife’s Death
Everyone experiences difficulties in life, and people often find themselves stuck at rock bottom.
Starling had a tough time losing his mother when he was young. However, this wasn’t the end of his miseries.
Tragedy struck again in May 2020 when Noelia Brazoban, his partner for life, passed away from a heart attack. She was just 31 years old, and the family lost a treasure.
The professional baseball player announced the demise of his wife via Twitter. He wrote, “I go through the pain of making public the unfortunate death of my wife Noelia due to a heart attack. It is a moment of great sorrow.”
After he lost a gem of his life, Marte initially thought to stop playing. But after talking to his pals, he felt encouraged and decided to join the game.
In July 2020, Starling rejoined the team’s practices. And the whole Pirates family also expressed their love and support for their outfielder through social media.
A few months after the incident, in an interview, when asked about his life after Noelia, he said, “I’m feeling OK.”
“And I know I’m going to feel better being able to focus on something else.”
Adding to his sorrows, Marte lost his grandma after two years of Noelia’s death.
