Born on August 16, 1997, in the city of district cultures and heritages, rich greenery, and hookahs, Jhajjar, Haryana, Sumit Nagal was the kid of a school-teacher Suresh Nagal and his wife, Krishna Devi. He has only one elder sister by his side, Sakshi Shokeen.

Sumit completed his schooling at the Little Angels Senior Secondary School, and while trying different sports, he found his love for tennis. His school coach used to appreciate the level of energy he brought into sports.

The whole family shifted to Delhi when Sumit was seven years old. His father registered him in the Delhi Development Authority Tennis Academy.

He started playing tennis as an eight-year-old kid at a local sports club. And in his initial days, he also won his first tennis tournament.

As a ten-year-old kid, Sumit joined Mahesh Bhupati’s training academy to launch a talent hunt program to discover, train, and nourish India’s first Single Grand Slam winner by 2018; it was also planned as Mission 2018.
