Quentin Perez, a wrestling head coach at Texas Wesleyan University, has been married to his longtime girlfriend, Peyton Perez, since July 2022.
The married couple returned to Texas in 2023 and founded Southern Style Wrestling to provide high-level training to the state.
Texas Wesleyan University has found its new leader on the mat. They hired Quentin Perez as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s wrestling programs, effective June 2025.
Quentin is a local standout who has won two UIL 6A state championships at Arlington High School before becoming a three-time NCAA national qualifier at Campbell University.
Likewise, he secured Academic All-American honors and helped build the program into a national powerhouse.
After college, he continued competing at the sport’s highest level, training with elite clubs and qualifying for World Team Trials.
Quentin has already volunteered as a coach for the Rams during the 2024-2025 season and built strong relationships with the team. It helped him to transition into the head coaching role seamlessly.
Furthermore, Texas Wesleyan launched a $100,000 fundraising campaign to build a dedicated wrestling facility.
I’m excited to bring what I learned from Division I and senior-level wrestling to Texas Wesleyan. This team already has a great foundation, with the women’s team finishing top 10 nationally and the men’s team finishing in the top 20 nationally, with one individual finalist. We’re ready to take this program to new heights and make it a NAIA powerhouse.
